• To begin, just log on to your Remote Desktop session and have your phone available. When 2FA has been enabled for you, your next RD logon will show this screen. Click ‘Authenticator App’ to get started.

  • If you already have a multi-factor authentication app installed on your phone (Duo, Twilio/Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) open the app and add a new account. Scan the QR code in the second screenshot above. If not, we recommend using Twilio Authy, and instructions for install/setup on that app follow below:
    • First, install Twilio Authy from the Play Store or App Store. Open Authy once it is installed and follow the on-screen instructions for first time setup –  You will need to verify your phone per the two screenshots below.

  • Once initial setup is completed, proceed to the next steps.

  • These steps are specifically for Authy, but will be VERY similar for any other apps. To add your account:

1.       Tap the Menu button (top right of the Authy home screen) and then Add Account, or just tap the ‘+’ icon in the center of the screen if present.

2.       Tap Scan QR Code, then use your camera to scan the code on your computer screen.

3.       Authy lets you edit the Logo and Nickname of this account – you can set them to whatever you want and hit Save.

4.       You’ll be returned to the app’s main screen, with your new account and a six-digit code displayed. Enter this code on your computer screen. If your remote session asks to add a second authentication method, answer No / Cancel.

  • From this point forward, when logging in from a remote location, you’ll have to open Authy (or your chosen authenticator app), retrieve a six-digit code, and type it in during log-on.
